Laboratoires Expanscience's Cosmetic Active Ingredients activity was born with the upcycling of our Avocado Oil, which was then a co-product of our pharmaceutical activity.
Today, upcycling is still at the heart of our development axes, as summarized in our philosophy "Science & Conscience, Naturally".
Moreover, from a single plant, we can obtain various active ingredients with different properties.

Our upcycled supply chains
Maracuja
1 fruit = 3 cosmetic ingredients!
The oil and the precious molecules, unsaponifiables in PASSIOLINE®& polyphenols in ORMESIA® are extracted from maracuja seeds rejected by the food industry. The old waste becomes cosmetic ingredients!
• The co-products stimulate the local economy by allowing producers to access a new market
Avocado
1 fruit = 6 cosmetic ingredients!
The whole fruit (skin, pulp and pit) is sliced, dehydrated and then pressed. We obtain the avocado oil from which we extract the esters and a cake from which we extract the polyphenols and peptides.
100% of the avocado is used! The avocado is upcycled twice at Expanscience! We only use avocadoes rejected by the food industry & we use a co-product of our pharmaceutical industry.
Maca
1 plant = 2 cosmetic ingredients !
From Peruvian maca, we use the roots for our SKINHAIRGIUM®Bio active ingredient, then we recover the leaves to extract MACALINE®, a draining, firming and slimming active ingredient. By revalorising the maca leaves (a waste product), we create an additional source of income for the local industry.
Lupine
1 plant = 4 cosmetic ingredients !
Laboratoires Expanscience sources its lupine in the West of France, where white lupine is cultivated according to a reasoned agricultural method.
CO2LLAGENEER® is an upcycled active ingredient since it is extracted from the hulls of sweet white lupin, a co-product of the food industry.
Plums
1 naturally scented oil!
Our Virgin Prunus Oil comes from a recycling process since it is extracted from plum kernels, a co-product of the food industry! It is obtained through a first cold pressing of the kernels found in the plum pits. This unique and exclusive process is a co-valuation of the production of the Agen prunes!
From a single plant, we can obtain many active ingredients with different properties. Thanks to upcycling, from which 40% of our cosmetic ingredients are derived, at Expanscience we limit our impact on the environment by avoiding the creation of new crops and the collection of other plant sources.
Today, we offer 13 upcycled ingredients from maca, avocado, lupin, prunes and maracuja, otherwise known as passion fruit.
With our 6 ingredients extracted from avocadoes, we remain faithful to our eco-socio-design approach, we valorize all of the downgraded avocado co-products (non-exportable, non-saleable) by transforming them into precious active molecules.
